Integration Says Success but Data Is Missing — What to Check
If an integration reports success but data is missing, treat the process result and the data result as separate signals. Verify the source and target independently before assuming the sync completed correctly.
1. Check whether the record exists in the target
Start with a stable key such as an order ID, customer ID, or another unique identifier.
If the source record exists but there is no matching target record, the issue is a true Missing result.
2. Check whether the record exists but contains different values
Sometimes the row arrived but one or more selected fields were not updated correctly.
That should be treated as Different, not Missing.
3. Check for duplicates
A repeated key can create a different kind of reconciliation failure.
If a unique business record appears multiple times, classify it as Duplicate and review how the sync handled record creation or retries.
4. Compare only the fields that matter
Do not make the verification noisier than it needs to be.
Choose the fields that define a correct business outcome and compare those values after the sync.
5. Keep a repeatable verification step
If the integration runs regularly, the same reconciliation should run regularly too.
That makes missing or mismatched data visible before it becomes a downstream business problem.
Where Verirow fits
Verirow is an independent post-sync verification layer for this exact problem.
It compares source and target records after an integration and classifies the result as OK, Missing, Different, or Duplicate.
See the Verirow case study for the full product concept.
